OSPW evo series is the new evolution step in our big pulley line. The E60 series is an almost complete redesign from previous C60 series.
Both cages and pulleys are made of Forged Carbon composite. This material can be shaped into complex forms, allowing us to increase the thickness in critical areas for a better resistance cage, while yet reducing the average weight by 10 grams from previous generation. Evo cages also integrate the pulley bearing shields to save weight and to increase clearance between the pulley and the cogs.
All the pulleys in the E60 and E48 series include X-ODON narrow-wide teeth design.

PHYSICS BEHIND BIG PULLEYS
The mass moment of inertia “I” is a measure of an object’s resistance to change in rotation direction. Its equation (I=mr2) where“m”is the mass (of the chain) and“r”is the radius (of the pulley) shows that with a bigger pulley (i.e. radius) you also get a bigger mass of the chain interacting with the pulley, resulting in a higher mass moment of inertia than with standard size pulleys.
The higher the mass moment of inertia is, the more momentum you can create and keep while pedaling at the same intensity. Therefore, Ridea OSPW evo helps you save energy to ride faster and longer.
FORGED CARBON COMPOSITE
Forged Carbon is the ultimate material for oversized pulley wheel systems and a far better alternative than alloys and plastics commonly used in the industry. With the introduction of the new EVO series in 2020, we finally built an OSPW that it is almost entirely made of this revolutionary material.
Forged Carbon is lighter than alloys to compensate the bigger size of the pulleys and cage system, while being harder and more durable than plastics.
Its elasticity and tensile strength allow a precise guiding and engagement of the chain. More importantly, we can design the bearings with minimum play to reduce friction, maximizing the energy savings of the overall system.
X-ODON
First developed by Ridea in 2010, the X-ODON technology of narrow-wide teeth is available for all pulleys with an even number of teeth (E60, F60, E48 and C26 series).
The teeth design, shaped with different lengths and angles, ensures a smooth engagement between the chain and the pulleys. Therefore, the X-ODON technology plays a fundamental role in making a rear derailleur cage with minimum play among its parts, reducing noise and increasing the overall performance of the system.
TI-CAST
Ti-cast is a surface coating offered as an option for OSPW evo series. It makes the surface of the pulley even more resistant to mechanical and chemical wearing, increasing the life of the pulley and making it ideal for harsh riding
conditions such as mountain biking and/or wet weather.
Suffice to say, it looks gorgeous too.
